SOUND LANDSCHAFTEN

at rest
the voice of the wild — how loudly the earth breathes
the voice of the muse — how loudly the music dreams
how many spirits stir at once — below one, even a lone voice grows rare
the deeper the stillness, the longer the world sleeps between whispers
how often the whole realm falls into hush and holds its breath
how gently each voice rises out of silence and sinks back into it
how often the muse wanders in among the wild things
how vast the realm stretches — the wider the world, the rarer a soul crosses paths with a voice
how swiftly the wanderer roams — the pace itself rises and falls as they go, never quite steady
how many voices of the wild rise in the world for every song the muse offers
how the voices settle across the realm — evenly scattered, or drawn together into clusters
